Have people ever said to you “you shouldn’t worry so much”?
Does it help?
Throughout my life, I have heard this comment often, and to me, it falls into the same category as the “you like tired” comment.
“You look tired” is NEVER a compliment.
No one EVER looks good when they’re tired.
…and equally so, when worry is consuming you, your sleep also often suffers. It is NOT that easy to shut the worry switch off. 🤔
There are a lot of strategies available to manage worry however, not all strategies work consistently for everyone.
As per the “worry flow chart”, stopping worry seems simple but really isn’t a simple task.
Today, the worry levels in our households can be overwhelming. From school/work pressures, to misunderstandings with friends/family, to health concerns, to financial stress, to insecurities about our appearance, to the impact of the world’s problems and, of course, the GLOBAL pandemic…eeeeeeeep. It can be WAY too much… 🎪🦠😩
…and ALL generations are feeling it.
My 11-year old just said to me yesterday, “Mom, I wish my worries didn’t take over my brain so much.”
THIS crushed my heart…💔and made me do a little digging.
One approach I found through psychologytoday.com suggests that if you set a “worry time” for five minutes a day for seven days, you will see a tremendous improvement.
Sign us up. The promise of “tremendous improvement” sold me. 🎉🎉🎉
