planITgirl defined:
the “IT” = inner trauma (or inner TRUTH, or inner TRUST)
the “plan”= resources
the “girl” = trauma’s connection to our vulnerable (or “feminine”) voice
… because WE are the ultimate I.T. system.
The Backstory
In 1992 Lenore moved to Vancouver (BC) from Calgary (AB) to pursue a career in journalism.
Two months later, when working alone she saw the other side of the journalism lens when she was robbed, kidnapped, assaulted, and held captive for in a wooded area near Vancouver, BC (Canada).
She was 21.
She disappeared without a trace for nine days.
The good news is that Lenore was rescued and, her attacker was caught. He is now imprisoned indefinitely for the many crimes he committed against her, and others.
…but, her story is NOT about him…and, it definitely doesn’t end there.
Recent Years
In 2015 Lenore’s mental and physical health hit rock bottom. She bounced from doctor to doctor to doctor with cancer, stroke and heart attack symptoms…among others.
She had a young daughter and was terrified that something terrible was happening to her.
Doctors struggled with answers until a psychologist (in Lenore’s words) saved her. The psychologist helped her understand the invasive (and pervasive) impact of trauma / long-term untreated PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder).
Today
10+ years later Lenore shares her story to show others they are not alone and that life after severe trauma is possible.
Her work focuses on the health impacts of trauma, our survival instincts and tools, and the power that motherhood (AND community) plays in healing.
